NTL to hold doubles cornhole tournaments in conjunction with race weekends at Watkins Glen International, Bristol and Dover International Speedway
Charlotte, N.C. – The National Tailgating League (The NTL), a newly formed organization created to sanction and execute organized tailgating games including Cornhole, Ladder Golf and Washer Toss competitions, announced today three additional stops to its 2009 summer race tour – Watkins Glen International, Bristol and Dover International Speedway.
The NTL will hold doubles cornhole tournaments at each location during their respective race weekends - Watkins Glen, Aug. 8-9; The Earhart Campground in Bristol, TN Aug. 21-22; and Dover International Speedway, Sept. 26-27.
The NTL held its inaugural tailgating event in conjunction with the 50th running of the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowes Motor Speedway in May, amassing a strong following of 400 players and thousands more spectators over the course of just two days. Because of the success of that inaugural event, NTL Founder and President Todd Hirschfeld is taking this tailgating phenomenon to three new markets, each with a high concentration of NASCAR fans and tailgating enthusiasts.
“Tailgating at these tracks is more than just a part of a race weekend, it’s a pre-race tradition that is fundamental to the memories made during a sporting event,” Hirschfeld said. “The NTL looks forward to supplementing the on-track excitement at Watkins Glen, Bristol and Dover by creating the largest tailgating events these tracks have ever seen, capturing the most passionate tailgaters and of course loyal cornhole competitors.”
The NTL doubles cornhole tournaments will include a $ 2,500 purse for the main event tournament and race-related experiences such as tickets, suite passes and other once-in-a-lifetime opportunities such as driver meet-n-greets, pace car rides and private pit tours for the amateur events. More details about the NTL events at The Glen, Bristol and Dover are available at www.TheNTL.com.
Interested race fans and gamers that want to participate in one of the NTL doubles cornhole tournaments during the Watkins Glen, Bristol or Dover weekends can reserve a spot by signing up today at www.TheNTL.com. Each of the three weekend tournaments will hold up to 64 teams of two and sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis.
Cornhole is a tailgating game similar to horseshoes in which contestants take turns pitching corn bags at wooden boxes in an attempt to land on the cornhole platform, or even better, make it into the hole that is cut into each box. Known in different parts of the country as bags, corn toss, bean bag, bean toss, soft horseshoes or Indiana Horseshoes, Cornhole has been increasingly popular over the last decade and today is played by millions of Americans in virtually every corner of the country.
